Amen was an NBC sitcom set in Philadelphia about a man named Ernest Frye (portrayed by Sherman Hemsley) who works as a church deacon & a lawyer who usually gets himself into harebrained schemes and clashes with the church's new reverend, Reuben Gregory (Clifton Davis) who catches the eye of Frye's daughter, Thelma (Anna Maria Horsford).

The show was created by Ed Weinberger. It aired from September 27, 1986 to May 11, 1991 after five seasons & 110 episodes.
